Yes, in my personal "Beyond" scope I can foresee the future of the World's Most Popular Role-Playing Game and it will be "online". Physical books, may be optional? Why read a book when an app can do it all for you? Generate your character using an online app, including background and a portrait - maybe even download a 3-D printable mini too! And DMs can forget about printed adventure books. No reading for session prep, either. Just follow the prompts on your device app and plug in a few responses during play. There may even be video "cut scenes" you can use to impress your players!

The adventure module - it's on the DM's device.
